Sledding Game — All Characters Guide

Sledding Game features 12+ playable characters as of the April 2026 Early Access launch. This guide covers every known unlock method — from the default roster to the most secretive hidden characters. Updated for the full Early Access release.

🐾 Default Characters

These animals are available immediately when you start Sledding Game. Choose your favorite — all have identical gameplay stats and support full cosmetic customization.

The default roster includes Frog (Fwog), Penguin, Polar Bear, Panda, Arctic Fox, and additional base animals. Each character body can be fully customized with hats, clothing, color palettes, trinkets, and sled accessories using the 90+ available cosmetics.

To change your base character, open the Character Customization screen from the main menu or from the Lodge customization station. Your choice is saved and persists across sessions via Steam Cloud.

🔓 Unlockable Characters

These characters require specific in-game challenges to unlock. Most involve the snowball target system. Bring a friend for Hard-rated unlocks.

🐸

Toad

Medium Difficulty

Hit three hidden targets near the Toad Statue south of the Lodge.

Step-by-Step:

  1. 1 Head south from the main Lodge entrance to the south chairlift station area.
  2. 2 Look for the Toad Statue — a small frog-like figure wearing glasses.
  3. 3 Nearby, three targets are positioned around the statue: one to the right at low height, one to the left at low height, one directly behind the statue.
  4. 4 Equip snowballs and hit all three targets. Timing matters — they may reset if you take too long.
  5. 5 Upon hitting the third target, Toad will be added to your character roster.
💡 Pro Tip: Cooperate with a friend — have one player distract or mark target positions while the other throws. The left and right targets are easy; the rear target requires backing up and throwing at a slight upward angle.

Fox

Hard Difficulty

Hit three hidden targets near the Fox Statue — including one on the Lodge chimney.

Step-by-Step:

  1. 1 Find the Fox Statue inside the Lodge. Look at the paintings on the wall nearby — they contain visual clues showing each target's location.
  2. 2 Target 1 (Moderate): Located on top of the east abandoned chairlift. Climb the mountain to the east, find the old lift structure, and hit the target on top.
  3. 3 Target 2 (Easy): North side chairlift near the top wheel mechanism. Ride up and look for the target mounted on the rotating wheel.
  4. 4 Target 3 (Hardest): On top of the Lodge chimney. Stand near the orange fence on the Lodge roof edge. Throw snowballs nearly straight up, adjusting angle slightly toward the chimney. Expect 10–30 attempts. This nearly always requires a friend spotting your angle from a distance.
  5. 5 Once all three are hit, Fox unlocks.
💡 Pro Tip: For the chimney target: move closer to the chimney base, look almost straight up with a 5–10 degree tilt toward the chimney top. Short, firm throws. The Fox unlock is considered the hardest character challenge in the game — don't get frustrated.

Dark Toad

Hard Difficulty

Variant of Toad unlock using a different set of three targets.

Step-by-Step:

  1. 1 After unlocking regular Toad, search the same south Lodge area for a second set of targets in different positions.
  2. 2 Community reports suggest these targets are positioned higher up on surrounding structures than the Toad set.
  3. 3 Hit all three in sequence to unlock Dark Toad as a separate character skin.
💡 Pro Tip: Bring a friend. The elevated target positions make solo attempts very difficult.

Seal

Medium Difficulty

Triggered by a specific interaction or location event on the mountain.

Step-by-Step:

  1. 1 Explore the mid-mountain areas thoroughly.
  2. 2 Community reports confirm Seal is unlocked through a location-based or interaction-based trigger (exact position being mapped by the community as of Early Access launch).
  3. 3 Check the official Discord at discord.gg/sled for the latest confirmed location.
💡 Pro Tip: Join the official Discord community — the Sledding Game community is very active and members frequently share newly discovered unlock locations.

🔑 Secret Characters

The rarest characters in Sledding Game. No direct purchase — these require exploration and persistence.

Tent Character

Secret

Find and collect the tent item at the mountain summit area.

  1. 1 Ride the chairlift to the summit.
  2. 2 Explore the summit plateau for camping tents.
  3. 3 Interact with one of the tents to collect the Tent item.
  4. 4 The Tent item adds a special character or costume to your roster.
💡 Tip: The summit has multiple tents — try interacting with all of them. Summit exploration is rewarding: multiple hidden items and fishing spots are also up here.

Fishing Secret Character

Secret

Triggered by fishing at the summit fishing spot.

  1. 1 Purchase a Fishing Rod (10,000 coins) from the Lodge shop.
  2. 2 Travel to the highest fishing point at the mountain summit (not the mid-mountain spots).
  3. 3 Cast repeatedly. Community reports confirm a hidden character unlock can be 'caught' like a fish.
  4. 4 The trigger appears to be RNG-based — some players report it in under 20 casts, others needed 100+.
💡 Tip: This fishing spot is also the best location to catch Great White Shark (The BIG one achievement), so you're working toward two goals simultaneously.

What is the hardest character to unlock? +
Fox is widely considered the hardest unlock due to the chimney target, which requires near-vertical snowball throws. Dark Toad is the second hardest. Both are recommended as co-op challenges.
